Scott and I first met at high school but were nothing more than acquaintances who said hi to each other as we walked past. Little did I know that one day that man would be my husband!! Fast forward 10 years, Scott living in the US and me travelling all over, and I get a DM from him to ask if I'd like to catch up because he sees I'm nearby (LA). I was actually sitting at the gate waiting to board my flight back to NZ for a while, but I found him interesting, so we messaged back and forth, a few times a week at first and eventually a few times a day.
Four months later I was on a plane to go and see him and have our first date, which was a two weeks roadtrip in his van. Four years later Scott proposed after a sunrise hike to my favourite beach, Homunga Bay, which you can only get to by foot. He got down on one knee on the sand right as the sun popped its head over the horizon!!

We decided to have our wedding at Omahanui for a few reasons. We really liked that it was gorgeous but not too flashy, as we always want to stay grounded and humble. We also loved that it was surrounded by NZ native bush and half of our guests would be from overseas, seeing NZ for the first time. The venue is on the same street that his parents live on, who we lived with for a couple of summers, so we used to drive past it daily and we didn't realise we would be getting married there one day!!
We chose to have Thai for our food because it's my favourite food ever!!!!!! I find traditional food at weddings so boring, so why not have your fave cuisine on your special day, I just had to be VERY careful in white. For lawn drinks canapes we had things like chicken satay sticks, curry puffs and fresh summer rolls. For dinner we had two curries (one was beef penang, my fave), pad thai and an asian slaw. We both aren't fussed on cake or that tradition so we had a friend bake some slices to be put at the back during dancing.
For florals, I wanted mainly oranges and Autumnal colours that suited our palette. We made our own bridesmaids bouquets with Dahlias which are my favourite flowers. Our wedding looked just like our house, I have very consistent taste, haha.

I wanted brown bridesmaids dresses right from day one. I am into everything Earthy toned and I knew I wanted that to carry into our day. Brown is so dreamy!! I've worn Shona Joy dresses to special events in the past and I know the fit and quality is always top tier, and sure enough when the girls tried them on, they said they couldn't believe how amazing and luxurious the fabric felt!!!
A couple of them actually cried because they haven't owned such a nice piece before, so that was really special. For my look I went with LVR Bridal, because they are just the coolest wedding dress girlies ever!! I always knew I wanted a corset and skirt, but I didn't realise I'd go for a scarf and veil; I absolutely loved those additions!!
