Beneath the dappled tropical light in Byron Bay, Marianne and Ben’s wedding felt like a quiet sonnet coming to life. It was an intimate and creative gathering, nearly a decade after they first met in a small surf town in Portugal. Their story had always been guided by instinct and their wedding day was no different — a celebration shaped by feeling, crafted by hand and grounded in the kind of love that grows over time. Held in a timber hall tucked deep within the rainforest, the day unfolded slowly and beautifully. Handmade ceramics lined the tables, vibrant blooms spilled from every corner and a meal cooked by friends brought everyone together. With two effortlessly elegant looks and their baby in her arms, Marianne moved through it all with a sense of ease and quiet joy.

Ben and I met almost 10 years ago in Portugal, in a little surf town called Sagres, while I was travelling and he was a surf coach there. We pretty much instantly fell in love together and it felt like we had been together in many lives before this one.
As per the proposal, Ben just followed his intuition that day (4 years ago), following the signs lead him to me, we had a really beautiful date together and he proposed after hours of us talking about life and love together. It was a really special moment and it just unfolded so naturally, Ben proposed, I said yes (of course!) and we both cried a lot and held each other.

We had our wedding at a really cute wooden hall in the rainforest in the Byron Bay Hinterland. I remember a few years back when we were talking about possible locations for the wedding we found it hard to find the right place for us. Up until attending two really special weddings last year at this same location, we felt it was such a sacred place so we felt called to host it there. The land there felt so welcoming and we felt held instantly. As per styling/decor, Ben and I pretty much organised everything. I have to say I am a bit of a perfectionist and I love sourcing and styling so I spent hours and hours organising the styling, opting for a colourful palette.

Ben and I made ceramics – candle holders, vases and plates – for the dining and grazing tables and we sourced flowers from our local florists, found some beautiful lotus flowers and other native flowers that were growing at the time. It was SO fun to style everything. You can find some of my wedding styling inspiration here on Pinterest.
We had our friend Russel cook an incredible South Indian feast and a beautiful crazing table, followed by two amazing cakes made by two of my friends. It was great to support our friends by getting them to create something for our wedding.

I absolutely LOVED my two dresses. For my first look I was wearing the Oakley Strapless Corset and the La Lune High Waist Maxi Skirt, that I wore for the ceremony, I wanted something extra dressy to start with and I loved it so much.
For my second look I went for something a little bit more relaxed for the second part of the evening (dinner and dance) so I opted for the La Lune Cumulus Backless Lace Split Maxi Dress, it was incredibly beautiful as well as comfortable.
I didn’t really have a strong idea of the kind of dresses I wanted before I went and tried them on, but as soon as I put these two looks on, I knew in my heart they were the ones for me! Two absolutely stunning dresses I would choose over and over again if I had to.
